Repair suitable damaged drains from inside the pipe

Drain relining can restore a suitable damaged pipe by installing a lining within it. Blockage Busters assesses the drain first and explains whether relining, a local patch repair or excavation is appropriate.

What is drain relining?

Relining creates an internal repair within an existing drain. It may reduce the need to excavate along the pipe route, although access and preparation are still required. The method depends on the pipe condition and the type of defect.

Inspection and preparation

A CCTV inspection helps identify the damage, pipe layout and connections. The drain may need cleaning before the proposed repair can be carried out. We discuss the findings and the repair scope before work starts.

Relining or patch lining?

A patch repair targets a localised defect. A longer lining may be suitable where a greater length of pipe needs treatment. The decision is based on the survey, access and condition rather than the length alone.

When excavation may be necessary

A collapsed pipe or a badly displaced section may not be suitable for lining. In those circumstances, direct replacement may be required. We can explain the alternatives following an assessment.

Checking the completed repair

The repaired section is checked after installation so the work can be assessed and normal flow confirmed. Ask us about the inspection records and any documentation included in your quote.

Request a relining assessment

Send your postcode, a description of the problem and any previous CCTV report. We will discuss whether a further inspection is needed and what a repair assessment will involve.

Areas we cover

Our drainage team serves London, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex and Cambridgeshire. Send your town and postcode so we can confirm availability for your property.

Keep a clear record of the lined section

Ask the repair scope to identify where the lining starts and ends, which connections need to remain open and what preparation is included. Request the agreed completion records and keep them with the original survey. Discuss any limitations where access or the view was restricted, and clarify the terms of any warranty offered in the quotation. A lining recommendation should relate to the inspected defect and suitable pipe condition; it should not be assumed to correct every drainage problem elsewhere in the system.
